53rd Retail Week

Every 4 years the retail calendar has a leap-week. This means one in every four years will have 53
weeks of results rather than 52 weeks. This is not something unique to just Krunchbox, this is a
universal approach retailers use.

53-1

When comparing a year with 53 weeks to a year with 52 weeks in krunchbox, you will notice that
you will be unable to compare week 53 with the previous year.

53-2

You will also notice when comparing a year with 53 weeks to a year with 52 weeks your weeks will
be off by a week.

53-3

If your year on year analysis does not match up as needed because of the 53rd week, you can align
the weeks you would like to compare using the Custom Dates option in your report.

53-4

Use the custom Period to line up the dates you wish to compare. The Base Period (BP) is the most
current date in your report and the Reference Period (RP) is the period you are comparing to. Once
you have created your report with the custom dates, save it as a favorite so it can be recalled at
any time. Ticking the Save Date boxes lock the dates in place in your report and your report will
always show the same dates. Not selecting the Save Date, as shown below, allows the report to
advance each week as the weekly data is loaded.

53-5
